Our MASAQTM program for those who want all the advantages of a martial arts program that teaches self-discipline, respect for others, physical fitness and a healthy self-esteem, combined with a training in Speed, Agility and Quickness, which has become widely accepted as the Gold Standard in athletic performance today.

SAQ is used in virtually every sport from soccer and wrestling to football and field hockey.

The main purpose of SAQ training is to improve the athletic motor ability of a student.

In our MASAQ hybrid class, we perform Martial Arts drills and then combine some of those drills with SAQ training. Many of the drills that are used in the Martial Arts make a smooth transition into other sports such as soccer, football and tennis among others because of how much emphasis they put on footwork and use of legs.

The SAQ portion of the class is broken down into 3 parts, each part with its own unique goal.

  1. Speed – Drills and exercises designed to improve a student’s ability to move in one direction, as fast as possible.
    Example: sprints, resistance running, high knees
  2. Agility – Drills and exercises designed to improve a student’s ability to change direction as fast as possible.
    Examples: ladder drills, lateral footwork, cone drills
  3. Quickness – Explosive drills and exercises designed to improve a student’s ability to create as much force as possible in a very short period of time.
    Examples: ball catch, high jumps, power skips
